The Easiest Way to Open a Folder in CMD on Windows 10

Opening a folder directly in Command Prompt (CMD) on Windows 10 can save you time and effort, especially if you frequently use command-line tools for file management or development tasks.

Many users waste time typing long directory paths manually but there’s a much faster and easier method built right into Windows Explorer.

First, open File Explorer and navigate to the folder you want to access using the Command Prompt.

At the top of the File Explorer window, you’ll see the address bar that shows the folder’s path With the path still highlighted, simply type cmd (without quotes) into the address bar and press Enter on your keyboard.

This small trick tells Windows to open Command Prompt directly in the folder you’re currently viewing.
